Hey all,
My oh my, what a long title. Many of you know this year we hae been hosting the Upwards program at CWC. At the end of last year God really put it on my heart that if we do it again that I wanted to coach a team. Well God definitely answered that prayer this year as I am now coaching the 5th/6th grade boys basketball team.
It has been so awesome watching kids who might not normally come to church memorizing scripture and getting involved. My prayer is that this will spill over into families coming to know Christ in a greater way. In this day and age it is so wise to meet our culture where they are at. When it comes to kids sports many parents will support their kids no matter what (as well they should)
I say all this to say that in all of this I have benefited so much spiritually. In the families I have met, and many of the people I have gotten a chance to work with this year. Now if you have seen me coach I think I get more a workout than the kids (hint: I'm jumping all over the place). It is hard to contain the excitement of seeing a kid finally come out of any shyness he has and shooting the ball (i had that happen last week). It was awesome!
Isn't it funny how when you go, "out on a limb" so to speak and do something completely different that God shows you how awesome he is? Take a look at aspects of you r life and ask God where can I be stretched. Yeah, I know it is a dangerous question because as with most things we may not know th results, but praise God that he walks with us through these bold new challenges!

From the Inside out
Hey all,
As I sit here and think and type I find myself so hopeful right now. Pastor Mick has said time and time again that, "Now will be our finest hour"! Those of you who know me know that I have a flair for the dramatic, and that phrased has been a guiding force for me in recent week. I have seen and talked to people who have indicated that right now in their lives they feel like they are going through the worst time in their life. Whether the problems are economic, or just despair with situations, we all need to be reminded that God is there! Yes, God is there thought the hard times, we are not alone.
Tomorrow is uncertain and the guilt and pain of yesterday can and will dominate if we don't surrender to God. Many ask me about our youth all the time. How are they? Are they putting their hope in Jesus? The answer is yes, and if we are doing what we should do (praying and seeking God's wisdom) then the answer is clear. We are to put our hope in Jesus from the inside out, that is, with our entire being.
I know this is tough especially during the rough times, those times that we don't do what we know we should. So get back up and try again. Don't give up! The glorious one, our great God wants no less of us.
So as you go about your day today, remember that. Whether you are taking the kids to school or out, having dinner, life journaling, don't forget what a great God we serve. He is everlasting!!!

Who would have thought.... It figures God shows up!!!
Hey all,
Well as I preached on Sunday, getting rid of the clutter is not the easiest thing to do. This is my first full week of FASTING from Television (as most of you may know I am an avid LOST, and Law and Order fan. I gotta tell you I have had some of the most amazing conversations this week. As you can see by the picture above God really blessed our youth lockin. In today's hard economic times we were blessed by God working through our teensw to collect over $2000 for World Vision and for our church, My Brother's Keeper, that we support in Detroit.
As I have been reflecting on this time it is definitely a time of practicing what you preach. Looking to God in all things, and heeding the words of Jeremiah 29:11. I believe that it is when our faith is tested with obstacles, it totally figures that our Great God is there with us to guide us through situations. Blessed be his name.
As I was talking to some people this week it was so cool to have them speak life, into my life. That is, to have those real "meaty" conversations that I believe each of us desires to have. Don't miss those opportunities. They are there. In today's fast paced world, we just have to look a little deeper for them. I praise God for helping me get rid of the clutter. As you read this I hope you think on those things that you need to get rid of. Pray about it, and moreover do something about it.

The one thing that I don't Question!
Hey all,
I hope this week finds you snowy but well. I was reading and preparing my message for this week and came accross 1 Thessolonians 3: 6-10. In it, you see the response to Timothy sharing the good news of Christ. It is really an awesome set of scripture when you stop to think of all the drama Timothy, much like Paul had to endure in this journeys.
I think to myself, the one thing that I don't want to ever Question is God's love for me. His infinite love, the love that is so characteristic in I Corinthians 13. That is the type of love that I want to share with people every week. I think that we all need to be reminded that, although we may mistakes, God forgives us in a way that is sometimes hard to understand. Because we live in such an unforgiving world that makes it that much harder.
Of any time of the year January and February are the hardest months for me to get through. I love Spring and Summer, and can even take Fall on a good day, but these months are what I like to call the Dog Days of Winter. Ironically, I find that I am more focused during these months as I read and pray over scripture, and now with the addition of my Life Journal, God has been giving me new insight into what I am reading. Isn't that just awesome how God works. I think of Timothy and what it must have been like for him to see just a glimpse of the spiritual fruit that (even for the smallest moment) was evident in the lives of the Thessalonians.
As we look at our families, and our friends my prayer is that each of us is willing to receptive to those moments of insight, and know that the one thing that we should never Question is that God will always be there!

Never forget!
Hey all,
Last night while taking some time to "veg-out" Shelly and I watched the Billy Graham Christmas Special. For most of you reading this you may be able to remember a time when the BG Christmas Special was at the forefront of Christmas viewing. In recent years it had all but disappeared. I began to think to myself, isn't it interesting then in these times of economic upheaval, here is this hallmark of American television, back again (this time hosted by his Billy Graham's son, Franklin)
The show was very Christ-centered, with prominent Christian music artists performing much to my astonishment especially in our "tolerance drivien society". It is apparent to me that even in the most desperate times, we cling to that which we know to be true. And for Christians that is the hope of our Blessed Savior Jesus Christ. That is the hope that defies all description. The hope that makes you cry, not in terms of sadness, but the joy that God puts inside you. Don't let the economics of this world affect your celebration of Jesus Christ's birth. That is, what Christmas is. A celebration of the birth that changed the world. I challenged our teens this week to celebrate December 25th as just that, a huge birthday party for Jesus Christ. We as a youth ministry will be doing that on Thursday December 18th. Our teens will have a huge birthday party for Jesus!
I believe that it is in that mentality that we won't get caught up in all the shopping for "the right gift", in all the busyness that this time of year can bring. Don't forget what we are celebrating.
However small and insignificant showing Christmases from years past might have been during that show last night, I think it reminds us that it is not the gifts we will remember as much as the times with family and loved ones that we will spend together. And in that togetherness we can face the hard time. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! Philippians 4:13.

Count Your Blessings
Hey all,
On Tuesday I had the awesome opportunity to take 17 teens who are in Youth Disicpleship to volunteer in Detroit at My Brother's Keeper. For those of you who don't know, on the last two Tuesday's of the month we support in the way of food ministry, 2 impoverished local areas. Grace center's of Hope in Pontiac, and My Brother's Keeper in Downtown Detroit. As I gave the message I was reminded of the fact that the area we wereministering in was about a 10 minute drive from where I grew up. It was a very emotional moment for me to say the least. As we prayed , sang, and the teens shared scripture it warmed my heart to see them work so hard.
I must tell you as I sit and type this I think of the words of Proverbs 10:5, especially when it comes to our teens. They need to recognize that there is a world out there. Something beyond their homes, where people are suffering. In truth we all do.
There will be those that sit at their tables and not have food to eat on Thursday. On tuesday we got the opportunity to serve over 70 people who needed a meal. Further, we were able to give them a spiritual meal (definitely something that will last). One of our teens, Joel, gave his testimony to those in attendance. It was a powerful moment.
As our teens wrestle with lifes tough questions the fact that is does not take a mission trip to another country to open their eyes, but a 45 minute drive to Detroit to make a difference. As our teens begin preparations for our 30 hour Fast to raise money for the Homeless in January 2009 (see calender) be in prayer for them.
As we debriefed on the way home, many of the teens echoed that, "it just doesn't seem fair", and that they want to do more to help people. I challenged them to pray as to how they will be used by God. Again I think, "The Hour of opportunity" mentioned in Proverbs 10:5. Isn't it exciting that they are not willing to "sleep the time away", but to recognize a world of need beyond their own.
Perhaps you thinkto yourself as you read this. "What can I do". I say, support our feeding ministries, and support our teens as they get involved! Challenge them, because they are ready to fight for something. Isn't it awesome that they are choosing to fight for God! Let us support them as they strive to do so!

One Year Later
Hey all,
It is unbelievable to me that on Nov. 17th I will be celebrating my one year anniversary being married to my darling bride Shelly. The adage, "Time flies when you are having fun", comes to mind. I am really excited, much like our honeymoon we will be going on a cruise with some close friends. We will be visiting Cozumel, Grand Cayman Island, and Jamaica. What a welcome respite to all the goings on in the world around us (yes, even though I can't swim, I am excited!). As most of you will atest to it is nice to get away, especially with the one you love.
In addition this last weekend Shelly and I got to babysit my new nephew RJ. He is 3 months old and awesome! Kudos to all you parents and grandparents out there, my sister gave us a long list of things to keep an eye on with the baby. I hadn't realized how much goes into taking care of children, especially wee little ones (afterall in ministry I usually get them at age 11 or so:). So to all you who are raising or have raised kids, I praise God for you! Having RJ was just such a refreshing and enjoyable experience.
Many of you may know, but I believe wholeheartedly that RJ is here due to prayer. My sister was told that she could never conceive children. Due to the Power of Prayer from many people, I believe God granted us all this blessing. Don't you just love it when God shows up like that! He is truly an awesome God! May your week be filled with warm memories and good times, no matter what is going on in the world, we serve a gracious Lord who loves each and every one of you. And with Jesus Christ, "ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE"!

Mighty to Save
Hey all,
Y'know I think there are specific moments in each of our lives when God is urging us to do something and, if you really think about it, these are the most awesome times. I find myself praying at all times for lots of different people. That he breaks down strongholds, that he reveals himself in a mighty way.
I think one of the major things we need to remind ourselves of is that when we mess up, God will never put us up for Adoption. He stays there, and guides us through the rough times. He is the author of our salvation. So what is your story, and have you shared your story with anyone in awhile. Our culture is built around compromise. Compromise for the sake that we don't want to be looked at as different. In truth, ladies and gentleman, we are different. We should not be so quick to act and react ast he world does. We are to be an extension of our savior.
I think a great starting point is letting your light shine so bright that the whole world sees. Let God do the saving, just be the vessel that he has called you to be. Indeed, our God is mighty to save, and he will. It all begins with prayer (something that we saw very evident and powerful in Crossroads/GAPP last week. Go to God and talk to him about those who you are worried about, and let him do the rest. Trust that he will use you, because he will. Believe that!

When God Speaks!
Hey all,
So much drama on the news isn't it. As Pastor Mick illustrated in the conclusion of the, "Making him known" portion of our vision did youfind yourself thinking about what God is trying to say to you. You simply have to turn on the news to see what perilous times we are living in. The economy, undependable-- people in general--undependable. But isn't it awesome that you have the invitation by Our Great God to stand on the Solid Rock!
Situations as well as people can be a shifting as the sand on a seashore, but always remember we put our hope in the righteousness of our blessed savior. This last week Shelly and I had the opportunity to get away to Chicago for 3 days. This was the first vacation we had since our honeymoon almost a year ago, and it was just awesome to get away for a bit. This is one of my favorite places to go. To walk around the city, to stand at the edge of a pier and look out over Lake Michigan. Now I'm sure there are plenty of more beautiful sights, but for me this is one of my favorites. To behodl the majesty of God, and all the things he has created is a humbling sight.
As all the many dramas unfold in your life never lose sight that God is there. He is our provider and will walk along with you in those times distress. Never forget how Awesome our God is! Trust that no matter what the obstacle he will see you through to the end.

In that same light, we must strive to talk to him everyday. Like I said yesterday, isn't it awesome that the King of the Universe wants such a close personal relationship with each of us.

Beginnings!
Hey all,
This Sunday September 21, 2008 marked a milestone in my family. Together we were able to dedicate my little nephew, Rodney DeShawn Endsley Jr. It was an honor for me to stand alongside my sister India and Rodney, along with my grandmother, dad and relatives to support my sister.
Now if you know me you know how important family is to me. Over the last 10 years (yep, I've been at CWC for 10 years this October, wow the time flies) I think back to when I first started attending CWC. I came without any of my family to a newfound church family that opened it's arms to embrace this baby Christian guy from Detroit. And now as I serve the Lord and continue my journey as a minister of the gospel what an awesome feeling of God's grace that I could look out and see my family, but church and immediate gather together to worship the king of kings. And this precious little life is what brought everyone together. As we prayed for him I just thanked God for this blessing, and prayed that he will grow up to be a strong man of God someday!
As we look at our children we must never forget that they are the future, and no matter how bleak things may look in the world, we have got to work our hardest to help lay foundations for our kids. So as you look at this picture of the smallest member of the Fullum Family, think of all of our babies and how we must make ourselves disciples of Christ in order to minister to them. The harvest is here ladies and gentlemen, lets be about God's business!!!

Experiences in the Pit
Hey all,
Have you ever run over a pothole? Now you may be thinking (especially here in Michigan, all the time), but actually I am talking about spiritual potholes. These are those things in our lives that come along and try to distract you from the path that God has set you on.
I think in order to add some clarity to this journey we need to look in scripture. Specifically read John 13:1-17. As I shared with a few people this week, in reading this scripture (the washing of the disciplesh feet) has this question ever occurred to you: "Why in the World would Jesus wash the disciples feet"? Afterall he is Alpha and Omega, the coming king, and here we have the image of him washing the feet, lowering himself as a servant.
Ah yes, you have probably thought of this and to go a bit further you probably realize that Jesus was setting the example for you and me. On this jouney we are destined to run into potholes but in the same way that Jesus set an example for us, we are to set the example for those around us. When the hard times come of course our first reaction may be to panic/lose hope. In truth, through prayer and supplication we must learn that the bad times will not last. No matter how many pot holes we run over, we must steady our course. Moreover we must come alongside one another and be that helping hand through the rough times. This is the example that Jesus set, to be a servant to all. As the Fall kicks in and Children's ministry, youth ministry, Adult Bible Studies and Sunday morning celebrations rev up, let us not forget he who was servant to all!

My Bible and Me.
Hey all,
Funny how that title reminds me of a title of a lifetime movie, or Hallmark card. I've been thinking a lot this week about the bible, as a whole book. I hope this will resonate with you also.
When it comes to the bible, I used to underline, highlight, and generally mark up my bible with everything that was said by the pastor or speaker (probably harkens back to my college days). Flipping through my bible you would see page after page marked with notes, highlighted with color pencil, (FYI: most highlighter pens bleed through the paper) and cribbled with arrows, circles and wavy lines.
What I found happening was that everytime I opened my bible my gaze was drawn to all the artwork, and not the content of scripture. Now don't get me wrong, all the notes were good, but I have found that when I take notes, if I am clear and concise and not trying to write everything down, it makes a world of difference. Here is some scripture that I have been rereading:
John 8:56-59: Jesus himself exists outside the realm of time. He was born in a manger and yet was in existence before time.
Jeremiah 1:5: God knows each of us intimately evern before our birth.
I love and appreciate how God's word is there for us, and we have full access to it. May you utilize that access this week!

Does it sometimes amaze you how cruel people can be at times. It takes a simple flick of the television to see stories of crime, hurt, and of pain. If I were to title it as a movie I would call it, "It's a sad, sad, sad world".
While at Stony Creek last night (Summer Nights) I watched as an older gent let his anger and frustration illustrate itself through drinking. Of course the park security came, and as they did I found myself shaking my head in sadness. This is the world we are called to minister too. The hurt that people feel is pretty universal, how it is dealt with is not.
God loves us more than we'll ever know, and desires to walk with us through the painful times. Instead many are giving in to hopelessness. Let us be people that will provide a shoulder to lean on, an arm to cry on through the rough times. I praise God that I have people in my life for which I can do just that. the first step was for me to open myself up and I believe that is true for everyone. Let us be transparent and honest when it comes to our daily struggles. Furthermore, continue to pray for one another and have genuine concern for one another. Jesus Christ is what this hurting world needs more than ever!

Followers of... THE WAY
SUMMER CAMP 2008
What an awesome 2 weeks of camp ministry this July. Over 180 teens from the East Michigan District(# for both weeks combined) attended either Junior or Senior High Camp at the end of July: I would love to list all the highlights from the week, but there are just so many. It was awesome to see the next generation so truly touched by the Holy Spirit these last few week, and as I told the teens, let's keep the momentum up! God wants to do some great things.
Through prayer walks, worship, and the message as delivered by Ed Shigley (Sr. High) and Kyle Brown (Jr. High) it was very evident that our teens were blessed by God these last two weeks. If you are a parent to a Sr. Higher you may have seen them walking around with a chain-link (perhaps attached to a necklace, etc..) This symbolized how we are all a link in God's chain and we need to be ready to do his will. this same concept was lived out also at Junior High Camp where they were challenged to take a step of faith, and they did. This was a very emotional time for many of them in that some have never thought of living their faith out in this way! But now their eyes have been opened to what God has planned for them.
A highlight from the week is watching one of my 9th graders recieve a call into ministry to be a pastor while at camp, just a smany recommitted their lives to Christ! Indeed, God is really moving. As I mentioned on Sunday, now parents the charge is yours. Continue building into your kids. Become their biggest cheerleader for Christ. They need to know you are praying for them, and that you are trusting God. God smiles when we completely trust him. Don't let what has become in our teens at Children's and teen camp go by the wayside as school begins anew and preparation for sports begin. Put all of your trust in him, and truly guide the next generation of leaders that we are raising up. Romans 15:13 states: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as your trust in him". Don't just read it, but live it!!!!!
As you think about our children and our teens, remember the early Christians were not called Christians, they were called FOLLOWERS OF THE WAY. I just think that is so cool, and really tells us what the church of Acts Chapter 2 was about, this is the kind of thinking we want to pass on to future generations!
As I lead a group of our teens to go to Metamaros Mexico next week (Aug 2-8) please keep us all in prayer, and you better believe there will be more God-sightings to follow as our teens are growing and changing for Christ!

Summer Blessings
Hey all,
Well what a wonderful time of year this is. As summer is in full effect (and my birthday approaching, July 19th:) It is always good to take some time of introspection. Upon returning from Family camp (and what a wonderful time that was). At lunch Shelly informed me that my sister had given her a video of my mom (Pamela) at a summer party before she passed away. I had not seen this video since it was taped in the summer of 2000. We prayed about it and sat down to watch.
What a wonderful thing to share together. It wasn't as hard to watch as I thought. As I looked on my mom's face there was a peace about her (the video occurred about 10 months before she died, and 2 months after accepting Jesus as her savior). It had been so long since I had seen her face, talking, etc.. but as the tears came I remembered how much I miss her. This was something awesome that I could share with my wife. We cried and prayed together the entire evening.
As I write this I think of the sadness, as we all do, but I also think of the celebration of her life and how one of my goals aside from seeing my savior is to see her again. I don't know what the summertime will bring for all of you. Whether it by vacations, mission trips, or just (as my teens like to say it) "sitting around" at home. Whatever it may be, enjoy good times with family and friends, and never forget how much of a blessing we can be to one another!
Praise: On June 29th I became an Uncle. My sister India had her baby! His name is Rodney James (RJ for short) and he weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces. Mom and child are doing great. Thanks be to God, and thank you all who have been praying for her!

Yay the End of the school year is here. As you can see by the pics, was time for some summer fun!
Enjoy those and enjoy this:
Titus 2 is an interesting chapter of the bible as it relates tou our teens. Did you realize that as adults we have a responisibility to our young? Titus 2 illustrates the following:
Older men: You are to be temperate, worhty of respect, self controlled, sound in Faith, in Love and Endurance.
Older Women: reverent int he way they live, not to be slanderers but to teach what is good.
Teens/youth: they will learn to Love, to be self-controlled, and pure not allowing anyone to malign the Word of God.
As the school year has come to an end, for many the summer brings a wealth of activity. Summer/Teen Camps for the teens, vacations (even with the gas prices, people are still getting out) and what I hope to see, s summer where we all stay connected with God. Taking family time to read God's word, pray, and just have some time to relax.
Unfortunately we put forth a notion that, we can take a break from God and pick things up in the Fall. There will be various summer bible studies going on over the summer, including the Thursday night ministry at Stony Creek for families. Don't miss out. Remember we have a responsibility!

Sometimes the simple things....
Shelly and Jason Tennessee Trip 2008
Well Memorial Weekend was "sweet-awesome (how about that for wording:) Shelly and I went to visit her family in Tennessee. What a time we had. I spent some time helping her uncle tear down a tree (as promised to my teens here are some pictures to prove it). In addition I also visited Gatlinberg Tenn. and got to see many wondrous sights. It was such an exciting time as Shelly and her parents got to show me around, and an exciting time for me to just ,"be still".
Sometimes I think we forget how much the simple things matter. To be able to look in the distance and see the beauty of the mountains is something we should never lose touch with. To share with those that you love how much they mean to you is priceless!!!
It was so awesome for me to celebrate 6 months of marriage with Shelly. As we reflected during the drive down and back, how time flies. We often said how awesome it is for all the married couples to reminince how they met, etc.. As we were driving along Shelly and I began doing just that. How we love one another and how God has blessed both of us in ministry. All I can say is wow, what a great God we serve.
As the days are longer, and the sun is warmer. Amidst the graduation parties and pool parties. While you are cutting the grass, or maybe just sitting in the backyard sipping a bit of Sweet Tea (the only kind of tea really:) As you do all these things remember the simple things around you that God has blessed you with. And be thankful!

Praise the Lord!
Well where to begin. What a tremendous night in ministry with our teens on Sunday night. Our church showed up in full force, 300+, and with donations we raised over $1200 to help teens attend youth camp this year. PTL. God is really moving through the hearts and minds of people in support of our youth. As youth pastor I was humbled and Thankful to God for the outpouring!
If you have not had the chance please check out video on the church website (communitywc.com) of the teens from Crossroads and GAPP giving of their time and talent to help their peers attend camp. Not only was the support awe-inspiring but the work that went into all the behind the scenes set up and tear down was phenomenal. There were so many adults who poured their time and effort into this our first Talent Show. I am reminded of the words in John 10 where Jesus talks about the Shepherd and the sheep. For a time such as this our teens are like those sheep, needing direction, and needing spiritual nourishment. I never take this responisbility lightly. They are indeed our future. So pray for them, support them, and encourage them especially when they are very discouraged. This generation needs God, and needs to know that they are loved by God. So as you see our teens at CWC, or as you may be a parent to a teen, or know of teens in your neighborhood. Say a little prayer for them.
